Remembering when you had featured my sons Ernesto Miguel “Erl” and Carlos Alfonso “Don” and their community service award bestowed by their Barangay when they were just 10 and 14 years old, may I again share with you their latest achievement which makes me happy and proud? They continue to be shining examples for the youth to emulate…
Despite the tech age and the numerous temptations that abound, they have remained refined, diligent, God-fearing, handsome and respectful young men even if I do say so myself.
- Erl, at 18-years-old, is an incoming 3rd year nursing student of Cebu Doctor’s University while Don at 14 years old is an incoming 3rd year High School student of Sacred Heart School-Jesuit.
- Notwithstanding my hectic schedule as Site HR Manager of Etelecare Global Solutions, I have been supportive and continuously guided them in their goals in life.
- As mentioned in the past, every summer they gather these young underprivileged boys to form a basketball team. Out of their savings and help from friends, they personally buy the uniforms in Carbon. The team is called “One Click” and were recently champions for the Barangay Captain’s cup. The prize money they received aside from the trophy – they spent in a beach party at Stakili Beach Resort.
- The latest feather to Don’s cap is that he became the youngest Charter President of Rotary-Interact Club of Sacred Heart School-Jesuit. Then he was elected the youngest Charter President of the Council of Presidents for the Interact District 3860 among the numerous schools.
- As Charter President of the Council of Presidents, they have taken projects such as Hipodromo Feeding Program and SRP Coastal Clean-up to name a few.
- Just recently, he was appointed as the first ever District Interact Representative of District 3860 by Rotary Governor Yumi Espina.
- During the PET DISTAS of Rotary held in Montebello Hotel, he was recently awarded the Leadership Award with a medal and a plaque.
- These boys would make any mother proud and their late father, Atty. Ernesto A. Amores, beaming with joy in heaven.
- May 13, being mother’s day, has made me more than content with the gift my sons have given me. They are truly a mother’s blessing. Blessings that truly bespeak of a job well done by a busy mother. Who can now say that is it impossible to balance work and raising excellent sons? Definitely not me!
