Wednesday, May 30, 2007 Cancer lecture set in Cebu City
THE Philippine College for the Advancement in Medicine (PCAM) will hold a lecture on US FDA-approved alternative medical procedures that result in the 70 percent survival rate for stage 4 and terminal cancer patients on June 2, 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
at the Cebu Country Club, Gov. M. Cuenco Ave., Banilad, Cebu City.
The lecturer, Professor Xu Kecheng, MD, is the president of Fuda Cancer Hospital in Guangzhou, China, where the results were obtained.
Xu and his team use Cryosurgery, an alternative to conventional surgery, and photodynamic therapy, which is an alternative to radiation and Immunotherapy instead of chemotherapy.
Procedure
The medical procedures are found to be safer and much less costly than conventional methods.
Cryosurgery removes tumors without disfiguring the patient. The procedure freezes the tumor into an ice ball, thaws it and melts it away in 15 minutes.
Breast cancer patients, for instance, retain their breast and will not incur any scarring.
In the past five years, Fuda Cancer Hospital has treated 4,000 cancer patients with 3,000 patients receiving Cryosurgery and 500 getting Photodynamic Therapy. The success rate in removing tumors without recurrence is 90 percent.
In total, 70 percent have survived and remained well, a high rate for Stage 4 and terminal patients.
