Thursday, May 31, 2007 Police await warrant to arrest cop
THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) or any police unit may arrest SPO1 Mateo Yanson once the court issues a warrant of arrest against him.
Acting CCPO Director Patrocinio Comendador said Yanson is now detailed at the Regional Headquarters Security and Service Group (RHSSG) after serving a 90-day preventive suspension imposed on him by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.
“He is no longer included in our list (of CCPO ofpersonnel),” Comendador said on Yanson, who used to be an operative of the city’s Vice Control Section.
The Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office recently filed two murder charges against Yanson for the death of moneylender Pilar R. Hernandez and her secretary Wivina Pancho last Sept. 9.
Hernandez owned the PRH Lending Investors Inc. on T. Padilla Ext. in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City where the crime occurred.
Comendador said that Yanson’s cousin, SPO1 Elmo Yanson Rosales, was implicated in the complaints filed by the police but the prosecutor’s office exonerated him. He has reported back to the Mobile Patrol Group also after serving his 90-day suspension.
Meanwhile, Comendador said he is awaiting a copy of the charges filed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) 7 against PO2 Manolito C. Anore, who was arrested for allegedly escorting drug suspect Marlon Sabayton during a buy-bust operation last month.
Cases for illegal possession and sale of shabu were filed last May 24 against Anore and Sabayton.
No bail was recommended for Anore and Sabayton for the sale of 14.10 grams of shabu.
Comendador said copies of the charges will be used by the CCPO to file a report to the regional headquarters about placing Anore under “suspended service” so that the issuance of his salary will stop.
On the case of PO1 Julius Aniñon, who reportedly lost his firearm to a burglar last Sunday, Comendador said the former has been relieved from the Vice Control Section and transferred to the Security and Service Group since Tuesday.
Comendador said a pre-charge investigation is being conducted on Aniñon by the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Bureau to determine if he was negligent in losing his government-issued caliber .45 pistol. (JST)
