ALONG with freshly baked breads, Sun.Star Cebu and Sun.Star SuperBalita will be available every morning in 30 Julie’s Bakeshop branches in Cebu.
Julie’s Bakeshop Franchise Corporation (JFC) seals partnership with Sun.Star Cebu during the signing of the memorandum of agreement held last May 22, at Wang Shan Lo Chinese restaurant in Club Ultima. Julie’s agreed to display and sell Sun.Star Cebu and SuperBalita newspapers in their stores around Cebu.
“Getting into partnerships is the best way to grow, an avenue to expand our horizons. We are glad to forge a partnership with Julie’s, a home-grown company in Cebu just like Sun.Star. We are positive to get mutual benefits out of this endeavor,” said Julius Neri Jr., Sun.Star vice president for marketing
“Sun.Star and Julie’s have a lot of things in common. Both companies came from humble beginnings, and now both are going nationwide. In the same way, both companies serve the community—Julie’s as a neighborhood bakeshop and Sun.Star as a community newspaper,” said Roberto Gandionco, JFC’s chief operating officer.
The MOA signing was also attended by Virgilio Espeleta, JFC president and chief operating officer, and Orlando Carvajal, Sun.Star Cebu general manager.
According to Thomas B. Aleguiojo, Jr., JFC’s business development manager, this is their first time to partner with a local daily in Metro Cebu.
“Julie’s Bakeshop is always known as the leader in the neighborhood bakeshops and we would like to partner with leaders in their respective industries,” said Aleguiojo.
Aleguiojo believes that it is always a win-win situation. “Partnership could help us both in our branding both together,” he added.
For the pilot stage, partnership with Julie’s bakeshops would allow Sun.Star Cebu to be initially sold at 30 bakeshops in Mactan, Mandaue, Consolacion and Minglanilla, and other critical areas in Cebu proper. (Andrea S. Pineda, UP Mass Comm Intern)
