Car show organizers expect ‘better’ response from Cebu
PLEASED with the results of their first run in Cebu, Manila-based car show organizers are back with expectations of a better response from the market.
“We expect it (the turnout) will be a bit brighter this year,” said 2nd Cebu Auto Show (CAS) organizer Alvin Uy.

CAS, an exhibition of cars and accessories in the Visayas and Mindanao, opened yesterday at the Ayala Center Cebu and will run until Sunday.
Although the strengthening of the peso against the dollar may hold back some buyers, especially exporters, from spending for vehicles, Uy is optimistic that overseas Filipino workers will still consider buying cars next to providing housing for their families.
Some 16 exhibitors, including car brands like BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Norkis Yamaha, Suzuki Auto Cebu, Toyota, and Volvo, have joined this year.
Although the number of exhibitors are about the same last year, Uy said the “large” motoring market in Cebu is a “pleasant mix” of those who buy vehicles for luxury and those for practical reasons.
Enthusiasm
“There’s enthusiasm,” CAS co-organizer Jason Ang said of the market.
Andrew Bello, marketing executive of Total Philippines Corp., which is into lubricants, said they decided to co-sponsor the event since the exposure had a “positive outcome” for them.”
Shows, like the CAS, he said, are of international taste so they found it good for them to join it. (CYR)
