Monday, June 04, 2007 Teenager raped, robbed in Busay
A 19-YEAR-OLD woman was raped before she was robbed of her cash and valuables in Barangay Busay, Cebu City last Saturday night.
Busay Barangay Captain Eliodoro “Yodi” Sanchez escorted the victim, Eva, to the Cebu City Police Office’s Theft and Robbery Section (CCPO-TRS) to report the incident.
Eva (not her real name) lost her P10,000 cash, a Nokia N70 cellular phone worth P23,000 and her wristwatch.
Since rape was allegedly committed before the alleged robbery, TRS Chief Alexis Relado coordinated with the Family, Juvenile and Gender Sensitivity Section (FJGSS) to help in handling the case.
Relado told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday that the attack occurred past 9 p.m. Saturday.
Wrong ride
Eva was reportedly on board a jeepney to go home to Barangay Apas, after a game at the casino, when she found out that she boarded the wrong vehicle, which was heading towards Capitol area.
Eva got off from the jeepney at the corner of Juana Osmeña and Escario Sts., where she decided go to her foreigner-boyfriend’s hotel on Ramos St. by hiking from the area, passing through a road along Baseline Restaurant.
While she was walking, a man who was on board a red XRM motorcycle held her at gunpoint and told her to get on the motorcycle.
The perpetrator allegedly brought her to the Tops in Busay, where he raped her.
After, the perpetrator took her cash and valuables, and left.
What he looked like
A habal-habal (motorcycle-for-hire) driver who happened to pass by the area helped Eva and took her to the Busay Barangay Hall.
TRS Chief Relado, however, said the TRS and FJGSS are still digging deeper into the reported assault.
“Maaari siyang tumalon habang nakaangkas sa motocycle (She could have jumped from the motorcycle),” Relado said.
The perpetrator was described to be in his 20s, 5’3”, slim, dark-skinned and with curly hair. He reportedly wore camouflage shorts, a peach round-neck T-shirt and a pair of slippers. (JST)
