Marlon alone cutches fast in Seminole

MARLON Manalo remains as the only undefeated Filipino cue master seeing action at the Seminole Florida Pro Tour in Capones Billiards of Spring Hill, Florida in the US.

But Cebuano Warren Kiamco, Lee Van Corteza, Dennis Orcollo and Alex Pagulayan quickly bounced back from their respective losses to be on track for the title.

Pinoy Votes: Sun.Star Election 2007

Match

Manalo who took bye in the opening round will face David Broxson in the fifth round after scoring a 7-0 win over Randy Whitefield in the second round, Paul Song 7-3 in the third round and David Reljik 7-3 in round 4.

Kiamco who had a good run in the first three rounds bounced back from a 4-7 loss to Tommy Kennedy in round 4.

The Pasil native Kiamco thrashed Trevor Braymore 7-3. His next opponent is Tony Crosby.

Kiamco defeated Pete Gustovi 7-3 in the second round and Ritchi Orem in the third round before facing Kennedy.

Recovered

Corteza meanwhile bounced hard after losing to Donnie Mills on the third round with a 7-3 win over Raul Alvarez followed by a 7-1 route over Dave Jacobs and another 7-1 thrashing over Walter Blacker.

However, it will be a tough game for Corteza as he play fellow Pinoy master Alex Pagulayan in his next assignment.

Pagulayan, who lost his first assignment 5-7 against John Ditoro bounced from the One Loss Side with a 7-3 win over Adam Wheeler, 7-1 win over Lenny Cortez, a 7-3 victory over Dan Sheldon, a 7-0 bashing of Demetrius Jelatis and a 7-2 victory over James Roberts to meet Corteza.

Uphill battle

Just like Pagulayan, Surigao City native Dennis Orcollo also had to climb hard from the loser’s bracket as he bounced back from a 4-7 loss to Al Lapena with a 7-3 victory over Carl Yusuf.

Orcollo one-by-one eliminated Ben Villanueva with a 7-1 win, Mike Destefano with a 7-2 showing, Ritchie Orem 7-1 and David Reljik with a tough 7-5 win.

Orcollo’s next opponent was Huidje Sey.

A victory against their last assignments will move the Filipino billiard heroes to the quarterfinal round. (RCM)
