Parco, San Juan tops 2007 Pepsi Junior Senior classic golf

FIRST day leaders Mabel Parco and Tony San Juan scorched the greens as they maintained their steady performance to capture the top plum in the 2007 Pepsi Junior-Senior classic golf tournament, which closed shop yesterday at the Cebu Country Club.

Parco and San Juan took the lowest net award after posting a 124 in the two-day event.

The two reaped a 61 on the first 18 holes and went full throttle in the second day with a 63 for an imposing 124 total.

Hannah Wong and William Hong, on the other hand, grabbed the over all lowest gross with 145. Wong and Hong had 74 in Day One and a one-under 71 in Day Two.

Meanwhile, the uncle and nephew tandem of Jovi and Pio Neri bucked a slow start to collar the title in the Pepsi Max Division.

Third place

Pio and Jovi only landed at third place in the first day, but overhauled the deficit to finish with a 133 after posting a 66 in the second day.

On the other hand, Martin and Marco Mendoza secured the second spot over Janjan Ybañez and Kiyo Takahashi and Franz Ian and Francis Uy.

The three pairs were virtual non entities in the first day before scrambling to finish with identical rounds of 135. The Mendozas had a 65 along with Ybañez and his partner while the Uys scored 66 in Day Two.

Klaus and Jet Hofer collared the championship plum in the Gatorade division after finishing with a 134. The Hofers finished their bid in commanding fashion with a 66 in the second day on top of their 68 in the first day to take the title.

The Hofers led by 11 over eventual second placer Hokuto Imai and Tsuyoshi Koike, who had 143. Jun Haga and Francis Jereza settled for third place with 144. Rogelio Miguel del Prado and Jay Tremedal are third runner up with 149. (MCB)
