South Cebu town resident wins P127M lotto jackpot

A RESIDENT from a southern town of Cebu hit the Super Lotto 6/49 nationwide draw, solely pocketing the P126,880,212.60 jackpot.

The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) withheld the name of the bettor and his hometown for security reason.

The winning bettor bought his winning six-digit combination through the “lucky pick” at a lotto outlet on F. Ramos St., Cebu City.

The “lucky pick” allows the machine in the outlet to choose the number combination for the bettor.

Outlet owner Mario Villa will receive a maximum “share” of P500,000 from the total sales on raffle day.

William Medici, PCSO general manager for Visayas and Mindanao, said it is not surprising for a Cebuano to win since more people here bet on lotto compared to Manila or any other provinces.

It was the second time a winning combination was bought from Villa’s outlet. The July 28, 2003 draw, with a jackpot price of P56 million, was also bought from him.

PCSO policy provides that if a jackpot price is over P60 million, the outlet should receive a share of P500,000 from ticket sales.

Last Sunday, the PCSO earned P27 million in Visayas and Mindanao alone, surpassing the usual P14 million a day income during the week.

Local successes

In 2003, Cebu was home to three winning tickets.

In January, the winning lotto ticket for the P135-million jackpot prize was bought from an outlet in Cebu City.

Annabel Javier, operator of the outlet on Pelaez St. that sold the winning ticket, also received P500,000 as her seller’s prize.

In July alone, two winners emerged from Cebu City.

Early in the month, a P50 bet in the Super Lotto 6/49 earned a Cebuano over P54 million in the lotto draw.

The bettor bought the five-board bet from an outlet in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City.

Towards the end of the month, another Cebuano won over P56 million in the Mega Lotto 6/45 draw.

The lucky person bought the winning ticket from a lotto outlet on Echavez Ext. (AIV)
