Cop chiefs told to give out contact numbers

FOLLOWING three robbery incidents in Cebu Province, Acting Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) Director Carmelo Valmoria has directed all police chiefs to provide business establishments in their areas with their contact numbers.

“Police response is very important. Immediate reporting of the crime will enable us to deploy our personnel at various chokepoints to intercept fleeing robbers,” Valmoria said.

He said that in a matter of 10 minutes, robbers get an easy head start.

He requested victims of robberies to provide detailed descriptions of the robbers and their getaway vehicles so it would be easier to look out for them in checkpoints.

Valmoria said it would be difficult to be holding checkpoints if they did not know what they were looking for.

The neighboring police stations will be informed whenever there is an incident so they can form blocking forces.

As for the conduct of checkpoints, Valmoria reminded his police chiefs not to stop holding these.

“Just because elections are over doesn’t mean they won’t conduct checkpoints anymore,” he said.

He also hopes victims will not “contaminate” the crime scene until police investigators arrive.

He said barangay tanods will be trained in protecting crime scenes because they are usually the ones who arrive first, especially in remote barangays. (MEA)
