CLEVELAND - Although the NBA Finals has been lopsidedly boring thus far, no thanks to the Cavs who are surrendering like Bataan, there’s always gossip to fill the void.
Arguably the favorite off-court topic in these Finals is the upcoming wedding of Spurs guard Tony Parker and smokin’ hot actress Eva Longoria of the Desperate Housewives fame.
After arriving in this heartland called Ohio, I quickly found out that a handful of Spurs players, current and former, have been invited to Tony and Eva’s secret wedding in Paris. But after accepting the velvet card invitation, they had to sign a confidentiality agreement “to prevent details of the nuptials from leaking to the press,” said forward Brent Barry.
For the record, I did not get an invitation. Parker was probably afraid that I would raise my hand as soon as the priest would say “speak now, or forever hold your peace.”
Anyway, this is not the first marriage between NBA and Hollywood.
Ex-Laker Rick Fox was once hitched to former Miss America Vanessa Williams, who still is a knockout at 40-something. Unfortunately, their May to December love affair, ended in a divorce court.
Williams is now starring as a devilish ad executive in the ABC hit show Ugly Betty. Fox, meanwhile, is said to be pursuing an acting career.
Did you know that in these NBA Finals, 1,800 credentials were issued to journalists here and around the world? And did you know that Lebron James’ girlfriend, Savannah, will give birth to the couple’s second son on Sunday, which coincides with Game 5?
Well, you know now.
If Savannah delivers as scheduled, both she and her beloved King James will go into labor on the same day. Unfortunately for LeBron, going up against the pesky San Antonio defense isn’t exactly a labor of love. (HDS)
