Charlie edges Bobong off

THE Charlie Mahilum team barely escaped the team of Bobong Supremo yesterday to snare the championship title of the Oriental Port and Allied Services Corporation (Opascor) 17th Anniversary Bowling Tournament at the Gaisano Bowlingplex.

The Mahilum bowlers, which received the top prize of P20,000 cash, nailed a six-game total of 4,665 pinfalls in the three-day competition to edge out the Supremo team by barely nine pinfalls to take home the championship tiara.

The Supremo squad, on the other hand, registered a total of 4,656 pinfalls to settle for second place and P17,000 cash.

Heroes

Rounding up the top three teams was the Anjun Cadungog squad, which logged in a total score of 4,621 in the event participated in by 34 teams.

In the Masters Event (Individual), which was participated in by the top 32 bowlers of the tourney, Edgar Albaño came out as champion after he logged in a three-game total of 655 pinfalls to bag the P3,000 cash prize, while Ricky Lucero (588 pinfalls) and Nilo Martelino (562 pinfalls) placed second and third and received P2,700 and P2,200 cash, respectively.

Pointers

Albaño won another accolade in the Individual Awards after he took home the Highest Single Men with 238 pinfalls and the Highest Double Men with 419 pinfalls, while Glicer Melior bagged the Highest Single Women with her 193 pinfalls and the Highest Double Women with her 355 pinfalls. The other awardees were Tom Riveral Team for Highest Single Team (909 pinfalls) and Highest Double Team (1,602 pinfalls).

Meanwhile, completing the top 10 teams were the Alemar Bernabe Team at fourth with 4,521 pinfalls, Calixto Sumalinog Team at fifth with 4,490, Jingjing Cadungog Team at sixth with 4,458 pinfalls, Tom Riveral Team at seventh with 4,376 pinfalls, Glicer Melior Team at eighth with 4,366 pinfalls, Isaac Tindoy Team at ninth with 4,360 pinfalls and the A. Delante Team at 10th with 4,336 pinfalls. (JSV)
