Star collision for Taipei-bound RP team

IT WILL be a true gathering of stars for the SMC-RP team who will be seeing action in the annual William R. Jones Cup competition in Chinese-Taipei.

RP team head coach Chot Reyes and PBA Commissioner Noli Eala announced that Kelly Williams of Sta. Lucia Realtry, Eric Menk of Ginebra Kings and James Yap of Purefoods TJ Giants are set to join the national squad in the Taiwan match.

Eala said Williams, who has planned to have a vacation in the US, has commited to play with the team.

While Menk and Yap were invited to join the training after the national squad returned from its trip in Belgrade, Serbia.

Williams, Menk and Yap will replace for Tony de la Cruz, Danny Seigle and Dondon Hontiveros who were injured during the Belgrade training.

After the tiring Jones Cup, the SMC-Pilipinas squad will have its final preparation, the 4-Nation Manila Invitation Championships.

Eala also confirmed that Fil-Am player Gabe Norwood will be playing at the Jose Cup. (RCM)
