USPF poised to increase lead in Shakeys V League

UNIVERSITY of Southern Philippines Foundation’s (USPF) luck just turned for the better.

The defending champions might solidify its hold of the top of the standing of the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League, as it is scheduled to play against a team that already backed out.

USPF is set to face Pit-os in the second game in the afternoon. Pit-os team, however, backed out of the tournament without warning by not showing up in its scheduled matches during the opening last week.

With this, there is a possibility that USPF could gain an automatic victory via forfeiture. If this will happen, it will easily pad its lead to 3-0. This, however, is still to be finalized by organizers today.

“We will still discuss how to go about it. Pito-os abandoned its matches. We tried to look for a team to replace Pit-os, but we possibly could in such short notice,” organizer Jordan Paca said.

Today’s resumption of the tournament will open with a match between Pajo and Pit-os.

Don Gerardo National High School (DGNHS) will be facing Abellana National School (ANS) in the second game. Both teams have identical 1-1 win-loss records. Both suffered their losses against champion team USPF.

USPF then takes center stage against the winless University of Cebu (UC).

University of San Carlos (USC) on the other hand, hopes to barge into the win column as it squares off with ANS for the last game in the morning.

DGNHS then takes on Pajo in the afternoon, with UC and USC battling it out in the final game. (MCB)
