Friday, June 29, 2007 Superbalita 9-ball offers P388,500 to winners
THE Sun.Star Superbalita 9-Ball Challenge will offer the biggest prize money when it opens its doors on July 7.
Tagged as the biggest billiard tournament in the south, the tournament offers a total of P388,500 in cash prizes on its fourth season.
Nine-ball and 8-ball World Pool champion Ronato Alcano, winner of the 2005 tournament, has confirmed his participation in the Open Division. The Open division offers the biggest cash prizes for the top finishers on July 28 and 29 at the SM City Trade Hall.
The champion in Class A will get P160,000, while the first runnerup gets P80,000, the second runnerup will get P40,000 and the third runnerup will be paid P20,000.
Those who make it to the final four will also earn P30,000.
The competition will start with the elementary division on July 7 and 8. This will be followed by the high school division on July 14 and 15. The Class B division will be on July 21 and 22. All three divisions will be at the Gaisano Bowlingplex Billiards Hall.
Registration
The elementary and high school division champions will receive P5,000, while their first runners-up will get P3,000. The second runners-up will get P1,500 and the third runners-up will earn P1,000.
The champion in Class B will earn P20,000 with P10,000 going to the losing finalist. The second runnerup and third runnerup will earn P5,000 and P2,500, respectively.
The registration for the elementary division will be on July 7 from 10 to 1 p.m., the high school division listing will be on July 14, while the listing for Class B will be on July 21. The registration for Class A will be on July 28.
Registration fee is P200 for the elementary division; P250 for the high school division; P600 for Class B; and P1,500 for the Class A.
However, participants can avail of a 50 percent discount on registration fees if they present five mastheads of either Sun.Star Cebu or Sun.Star Superbalita. (RCM)
