Firms seek to address lack of IT experts in Cebu to lure investors
WITH only a few system applications and products (SAP) consultants in the country, foreign investors in business process outsourcing (BPO) have doubts about coming to the Philippines.
A lot of foreign investors are “slowly pulling out of India and have expressed interest in moving to the country,” said Teh Opinion, managing director of Kaisa Consulting, a firm involved in providing SAP training.

Opinion said despite the growth in the BPO and information technology industries, training and education facilities on SAP, particularly in Cebu, are limited compared to other areas.
She said another factor that give foreign investors doubts about moving to the Philippines is its “limited market,” which is mostly located in Manila.
She said foreign investors are scared that if something happens in Manila, they will suffer a big loss and will have no alternative location.
To address the situation, Kaisa Consulting and SAP Philippines, a major international business software company, are introducing the SAP Training for Employment Program.
The program aims to train and develop a talent pool of SAP consultants among interested individuals in Cebu, Davao and Cagayan de Oro, among others. (TEP)
