Saturday, June 30, 2007 As last act, Council ‘invests’ P3.3M in health
IN their last session, the 10th City Council approved some P3.3 million in health and sanitation projects for urban poor communities in Cebu City.
The urban poor in Sitio Cabangcalan, Barangay Bulacao specifically told the City Council of the “urgency” of the need for a drainage system to protect the health and safety of the residents there.
Other projects approved were the construction of a concrete-lined canal with a cover on Marconi St. in Barangay Apas and the dental mobile parking bay at the City Health Department compound.
Residents of Sitio Tipon in Barangay Punta Princesa will get a new drainage system after the council approved the program of works and estimates last Wednesday.
The City Government will spend P1.5 million for the drainage system in Sitio Cabangcalan, some P430,000 for the project on Marconi St. and some P200,000 for the drainage system in Sitio Tipon.
A parking bay for the mobile dental clinic will also cost the City some P1.14 million.
Councilor Nestor Archival sought approval for the Cabangcalan project.
The 10th council held its final session last Wednesday. The 11th council will hold their inaugural session on Monday. (LCR)
