FATHER and son tandem Titus and Vince Mark Tabotabo plunge into action today in the resumption of the Olivarez Tennis Tournament in Manila.
The nine year old Vince Mark is set to compete in the quarterfinals of two age divisions while his father Titus opens his bid in the inter-club competition later in the day.
Vince Mark is setting his sights on his eighth title, counted since last summer, in the 10 under unisex division. He will be facing Niel Puche in today’s quarterfinals.
Vince Mark is also nearing his very first title in the Boys 12 class. Seeded only eighth in this division, he is up for a gargantuan task as he is scheduled to face top-ranked John Mavrick Ribaya today.
Vince Mark barged into the quarterfinals after defeating Brycel Libao, 6-4, 6-2 last weekend.
Titus on the other hand, will try his luck in the afternoon contest, a mixed doubles event.
Titus will be teaming up with Shane Olivarez, in a tournament that has P100,000 as top purse.
The Tabotabos of Tuburan have been in Manila to take part in a series of competitions in a campaign to improve Vince Mark’s standing in the national ranking of his age division.
Vince Mark’s trips has been supported by Vice Governor Greg Sanchez. (MCB)
