MSI-ECS conference gathered systems protection providers

INFORMATION technology systems nowadays are prone to “blended threats.”

“Hackers have created more and more sophisticated threats. We’ve heard of spam, worms, viruses, Trojans and malware intrusions, but now hackers are capable of combining these threats to create a mixed attack to further damage your system,” said Michael Poyaoan, country manager in the Philippines of Fortinet International, Inc.

Fortinet is a systems protection provider company. It integrates different security systems to one powerful device. “Instead of installing different software to protect your system to one particular threat and another software for another threat, we can provide you with a unified threat management system (UTM) to secure your system from all kinds of threats,” Poyaoan explained.

He said that everyone is a target due to increased Internet access.

Fortinet capitalizes on its “homegrown” and self-developed technology to “do the integration much better so that threat detection is improved.”

It is one of the system solution providers which participated in the conference conducted by MSI-ECS last May 24 at the Waterfront Lahug.

Poyaoan said that Fortinet has been in the country for four years. “We believe that MSI-ECS, which has already established itself well in Cebu is our right partner in area,” he said.

“We hope to penetrate the market by educating IT users of the importance of securing their systems,” he added.

Maurice Altar, MSI-ECS marketing and communications manager, said that MSI-ECS conducted the workshop “to educate end users with the different system solutions that are available in the market.”

MSI-ECS, a multi-national IT company provides hardware and software devices including UPS, enterprise storage solutions, productivity software, switches, routers and antivirus solutions.
