By Mila C. Espina
In my diary

THE Cebu Business Month (CBM)scored another ‘big hit’ in one of the major events this year, the Go Negosyo chaired by multi-award entrepreneur, Jay Aldeguer. The CBM Asean Tourism Congress set the stage in making entrepreneurship a viable aspect of tourism. Jay asserted, “We must integrate our sari-sari stores, souvenir shops and other small negosyos in the mainstream of trade and tourism.

The well-attended forum of some 1,000 delegates last June 27 at the Cebu International Convention Center (CICC) was an indication of the growing need to instill the proper mindset for creativity and resourcefulness, learn from icons who succeeded in localizing, then, expanding their business ventures. The Go Negosyo entrepreneurship award set the tone for the Grand Chamber Awards where small and large scale entrepreneurs were honored.

The Go Negosyo was in tandem with Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE) led by Joey Concepcion, PCE founding trustee, and Ramon Lopez, executive director.

Happenings

USJ-R 69 H.S alumnus, Racull Macoy, one of the hosts during the Josenian alumni homecoming in San Diego, California, breezed in Cebu recently. We met him at lunch at Laguna Garden coordinated by Casiano Tura.

We will remember the “mementos” of the happy despedida party Marriot tendered for Karl Hudson; the Choco-lat, a special treat by chef Gene Gonzalez, dinner hosted by Hans Hauri at Marco Polo; the series of events to celebrate Canada’s Day; the launching of Holiday Gym and Spa; the LH Prime Wellness Card; the big Epson Philippines, media lunch at Krua Thai; the media appreciation shindig at Shangri-La; the media lunch of Royal Malaysian Authentic Cuisine; and the oath-taking of the 2007 elected Provincial officials at the Capitol. . . We look forward to the International Night come July 6, a project of the Consular Group of Cebu and Zonta 2.

July 4 with Amcham

The friends and guests of American Chamber of Commerce will don their Western attires for their yearly July 4 US-Filipino Friendship Day at 7 p.m.; Marriott Hotel. chairperson Alice Woolbright, emcee Michael Go, and game masters Cherry Callelero and Maris Araneta have all the energizing games and prizes. By the way, Big Foot (coordinated by Lilu Aliño) in tandem with Levi will stage a Western-oriented fashion show. There will be endless dining and dancing. So, call up Amcham at the US Consulate for more information.
