Bamboo joins new school of cool

PRETTY faces sell. It’s a conventional insight that indeed has worked to conventional effect in the fashion industry.

But Penshoppe recognizes that it takes more than just the face of the moment to really connect with a market that is as complex, deep, changeable and dynamic as the Filipino youth. It takes a voice that can speak to innermost dreams and desires, and skill that can both touch heartstrings and inspire awe. It takes originality, boldness, and individuality.

It might have been a tall order for any endorser to fill, but for Penshoppe, there was one group that fit the bill perfectly.

Bamboo: breaking barriers

With distinctive music that soars across the airwaves and stirs the passions of the Filipino youth, Bamboo, the Philippines’ premier rock band, was a natural choice to be Penshoppe’s newest Ambassadors of Music and Style.

A slew of gold records, awards, number one hits and a growing fanbase across Asia is testament to the resounding response to such a brave stand for individuality.

What did you learn today?

Penshoppe’s newest campaign follows up the success of 2006’s successful Denimlab Rockfest, where 20 of the hottest Pinoy bands came together at the Big Dome. This year, Penshoppe brings its hugely successful fusion of great music and fashion to a place its market lives, breathes and knows like no other – school.

The campaign, What Did You Learn Today, presents Penshoppe and Bamboo as icons of independent thinking and self-expression among Filipino youth.

Gone are the stuffy, constricting, school uniforms of yore as Bamboo dons Penshoppe, the uniform of real life with a fun and casual character that allows individuality to shine through. With no less than Bamboo heading Penshoppe’s school of cool, today’s youth are in for an education like no other, where fashion and music are the subjects that truly rock.
