Talk back: South bus terminal’s transfer

THIS is a reaction to the Sun.Star Cebu news item (June 22, 2007) titled “Not a solid deal” and editorial (June 23, 2007) titled: “City Hall’s bus terminal ploy.”

But why the fuss over the proposal to transfer the south bus terminal farther south, meaning to Talisay City?

I have been living with my family in Bulacao, Cebu City since 1979.

I am working in Cebu City and my children studied in Cebu City.

Since our home place is Barangay Damolog, in Sogod town, we go there on Saturdays.

Sogod is about 62 kilometers north of Cebu City.

From Bulacao to the North Bus Terminal in Tipolo, Mandaue City, we ride on a jeepney twice before we can board a north-bound bus.

Did you hear complaints from us?

I believe it is the prerogative of the mayor, not of the governor, to decongest traffic in the city.
