TO STRENGTHEN the fight against corruption, members of the local business community will conduct a forum on the issue.
The Cebu Business Club (CBC) —together with Dilaab Foundation and the Mactan Island Chamber of Commerce— also present the results of the survey by the Social Weather Stations, USAID and Asia Foundation on “Business on Government Corruption” at 10:30 tomorrow at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
“The presentation and resulting discussions have always been very interesting, if not controversial. We always run out of time,” said CBC president Dondi Joseph.
“This is simply an indication that the business community is extremely concerned about the negative effects of corruption of business, on government and ultimately, on Filipinos living in poverty. The time for change is now,” he added.
Joseph said CBC, which is against corruption in government, has been holding seminars and discussions that are geared towards making Filipinos become more aware of the prevalent “disease” of corruption.
Earlier, he said the club’s core objectives include the “establishment and encouragement of non-formal social and business fora, dialogues and briefings with individuals from private and public sectors to develop entrepreneurial and socio-economic development.” (MMM)
