Online views: Basilan massacre

(Opinion culled from the feedback of readers of Sun.Star website at www.sunstar.com.ph)

BELOW are views of readers of the Sun.Star website at www.sunstar.com.ph on the recent clash between government troopers and Moro rebels in Basilan.

Pinoy Votes: Sun.Star Election 2007

“People who killed those Marines must go to hell. Investigate the MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) to check if its involved. If the group is, then the government must know what to do with its members. What former president Joseph Estrada did to the MILF camps was the right thing to do (getting rid of those camps). Hopefully, the current government will do the same thing. We will have more problem if we let them build up camps” - Jep (jep@hotmail.com)

“While we were treating our fallen enemies with full respect, the same enemies are doing otherwise with impunity to our fallen Marines. This is because we are disciplined soldiers and we will always be” — Rosauro Feliciano (rosaurof@yahoo.com)

“The MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) claim they are responsible for the death of our troops but denied any involvement in the beheading. Do they think people in their right minds will believe what they are saying? How come they don’t know who the perpetrators are when in fact it happened within their territory? Islam prohibits mutilation, as claimed by the MILF. Does it mean the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is unIslamic since the Middle Eastern country conducts public beheadings. We need not trust this people, as they are the enemy of our state. There’s no doubt the outcome of their (MILF) report will be the government’s fault” — JDwight (jdwight143@yahoo. co.uk)
