Tuesday, July 17, 2007 Coach bullish on USPF’s chances
BEFORE the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) starts its colossal hunt for the national title, it will first make a stopover for the organizational meeting of the 1st M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala Developmental Volleyball League for boys and girls tonight at the USPF’s coach Jordan Paca is feeling positive about their chances in the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League, which will be this Thursday in Bacolod City.
“I think we have better chances winning the title than Hope Christian School (HCS),” said Paca.
Paca’s girls finished second last year to Far Eastern University, the team which HCS defeated in the Luzon finals. Paca said they are not only preparing for HCS, but for other teams from the other provinces as well.
Before USPF plunges into the title hunt, it will be meeting with the other schools which will be taking part in the coming local event hosted by MLKP.
“It will be a busy week for us. After the Shakey’s we go home in time for the MLKP tournament,” Paca added.
MLKP volleyball league, which will open this Sunday at the University of San Carlos (USC) Gym, has attracted teams from University of San Jose-Recoletos, USC, Don Bosco College, Pajo National High School, Don Gerardo Ouano Memorial National High School, Cabancalan National High School, Mandaue City Comprehensive National High School, Abellana National School, and Camp Lapu-Lapu National High School.
Meeting
Four other schools which expressed their intent to join are St. Louis School, St. Joseph’s Academy, Colegio de la Inmaculada Concepcion-Mandaue and San Isidro Parish School.
Tonight’s meeting at the Family Choice Restaurant will finalize the schedule and bracketing of teams. Also to be discussed will be the rules for the tournament, which will be headed by director Raul Gonzales. (MCB)
