Go: A Journey to Enlightenment
By Charlene Go
LaMyerda

WE live in a dog-eat-dog world that surrounds us daily with greed, ambition and pride. Time, culture, and priorities change so fast that it would be so easy to get caught up in such secular things that we sometimes forget that we do have to take care of ourselvesespecially what’s insideour soul. Though it is so easy to put aside things that we feel is unimportant or irrelevant to our current priorities, having a peaceful soul is the secret to it all.

Last July 6, The Chu Un Temple and Buddha’s Light International Association presented Siddhartha, A Musical Journey to Enlightenment at the Pacific Grand Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel. Curious spectators, theater enthusiasts, and Buddhists alike came to watch the much-anticipated musical and were enlightened by learning about the life and teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, played onstage by Benjie Layos.

And though we live in a Christian nation, the musical was not meant to convert or simply entertain but to bring awareness about Buddhism and bring peace to the viewers at the same time, since a lot of the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama are practical day-to-day values that we all should live by.

Meanwhile, if is through a certain state of mind that Buddhists find paradise in, shoppers on the other hand have found their new paradise right at the heart of Ayala Center Cebu Last July 9, Ayala Center Cebu launched their new South wing with a display of live mannequins and a fashion show by the MAC models and stylists Mike Sanchez and Edwin Ao. Exciting new stores such as Chocolate, Regatta, Space, Espada, Bleach Catastrophe, Simon and others showed off all of what’s in store for the shopaholics.

On that note, Congratulations to Rustan’s Supermarket for their grand opening last July 9, at the basement of the new South Wing of Ayala Center Cebu. Top performers like Search for a Star’s Rachelle Ann Go, and Christian Bautista inspired the guests in song and we were graced with the presence of Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco, and the Tantoco family as well as Mayor Tomas Osmena and Cebu city First Lady Margot Osmena for the unveiling of the new Rustan’s Supermarket.
