Wednesday, July 25, 2007 MRI scan clears Czar; boxer to leave hospital
AFTER three days of confinement, Czar Amonsot will leave the hospital today.
“The specialist doctor, Dr. Debra Nelson’s prognosis is optimistic. Her findings: is optimistic and Czar will be released on Wednesday, the doctor said everything turned out well. Thank God,” said Cebu’s foremost boxing patron Antonio Aldeguer in a text message yesterday.
The Valley Hospital in Las Vegas has cleared Amonsot from further danger following the MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) done the other day.
However, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has suspended Amonsot indefinitely from fighting in Las Vegas because of the injury he sustained after fighting Michael Katsidis.
Entire US
And as it goes in Amercia, sanctions in Nevada are good as valid in the entire US.
NSAC executive director Keith Kizer defended their action, saying it was taken out of their concern on the health of Amonsot, which was earlier found to have slight bleeding in his brain.
Amonsot is scheduled to arrive in the country on Saturday and Aldeguer is planning to hold a press conference for the Tagbilaran City native fighter.
Comeback
Aldeguer also did not rule out the possibility that Amonsot might be able to fight again after a few months rest.
However, Aldeguer and the rest of the Team ALA Boxing, is going to evaluate all options with regards to the career of Amonsot, who is also the current WBO Asia Pacific lightweight champion.
Amonsot suffered his injury after a grueling 12-round loss to WBO champion Katsidis for the interim lightweight crown last Sunday. He was downed twice in the fight—in the second and 10th rounds—while Katsidis suffered two nasty cuts below his right eye and above his left eye. (RCM)
