HERE'S a reminder for our high-end concert lovers: The 14th Romantic Piano Concerto Journey (RPCJ) Tour featuring the country’s foremost pianists and music pedagogues professor Reynaldo Reyes and Ingrid Sala-Santamaria.

They will perform in Cebau on July 27 (Friday) at the Marcelo B. Fernan Press Center auditorium at 7 p.m.

The tour commenced last June 25 and will end on August 6. It covered a performance in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and RPCJ has been all over Manila and suburbs spreading goodwill and educational presentations, with focus on music.

A children’s party at the Marriot Hotel Ballroom? There’s nothing unusual about that! It becomes a conversation piece when the children are adults, dressed as kids and playing kiddie games and eating kiddie food!

Welcome to the Kiddie Theme Party to honor media’s June and July birthday celebrators: Joe Recio, Flor Ynclino, Mila Espina, Cookie Newman and this writer. Multi-colored swags hung from the ceiling, and around the dinner table were dart games, pabitin, a cotton candy-maker, popcorn corner, and even a roulette table for kiddie gamblers! Balloons decorated the area with a giant tarpaulin with the celebrator’s names in blazing color! Our overly gracious and generous hosts were Cebu City Marriot Hotel’s GM Roy Abraham and charming better-half, Carol (an articulate Filipina!), and his angels: Joan Danao, Ann Olalo, Dolly Belo, and visiting Marriot bigwigs, John Toomey-Asia Pacific area director for Marketing; and Silvano Dressino – area director of revenue. What’s a birthday without a cake? A retinue of waiters brought in five mini-cakes for candle-mini-cups, spaghetti and an array of hotel pastries. That’s not all… all of us were “overloaded” with loot bags, stuffed toys, balloons, and prizes galore!

The night ended all too soon, as the kiddies had their bedtime! Good night Roy, Carol, Dolly, Joy and Ann. That was a blast to end all blasts!

With the venue being no less that an enchanted castle in the land of Once Upon A Time, also known as Hong Kong Disneyland, one-year-old Ivan Joseph Malixi, only son of young couple, Gerry and Sari Jeanne Garcia-Malixi, really blew this Mickey Mouse birthday cake in style!

Doting family, glam grandma Lucy Franco Garcia, auntie Maite Garcia, and lucky guests were treated to a birthday bash with Disneyland characters in lively attendance. Did we catch a glimpse of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella? I guess they were busy with their respective Prince Charmings…

Many happy returns, Ivan. Where do we go next year?
