Cesafi freezes membership; holds ACT’s application

ASIAN College of Technology (ACT) will need to wait a little longer before it will be taken into the folds of Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) this year.

After countless meetings, the Cesafi board has decided to defer accepting ACT because Cesafi is freezing its membership until 2010.

Cesafi president Rolly Villa said in a letter addressed to ACT president Rodrigo Abellanosa that ACT’s application is put off for now.

“In a meeting of the Cesafi board, it was decided that your application to become a member of Cesafi effective school year 2007-2008, is held in abeyance due to the decision of the board to have a moratorium on membership applications until the year 2010,” the letter stated.

Cesafi refuses to release any further explanation.

Cesafi, which will open its seventh season this Aug. 4 at the Cebu Coliseum, is composed of 11 member-schools.

These are University of Southern Philippines Foundation, Southwestern University, University of San Jose Recoletos, Cebu Doctors’ University, Cebu Institute of Technology, Velez College, University of San Carlos, Don Bosco College, University of Cebu, University of the Visayas and Cebu Eastern College.

Cesafi also serves as the qualifying event for the Private Schools Athletic Association. (MCB)
