Sunday, July 29, 2007 Czar to fight again By Rommel C. Manlosa Sun.Star Staff Reporter
IN just six months Czar Amonsot will be back in action.
A doctor ordered three months of complete rest and another three months more to completely heal the injury the Boholano fighter incurred after fighting Michael Katsidis last Sunday.
With the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) imposing an indefinite suspension on Amonsot, the 21-year-old fighter, will find something to do for the next six months.
“I was promised a job by Mayor Dan Neri Lim at (Tagbilaran) City Hall. Maybe I’ll take it because there is nothing to do for three months and there’s another three months before I can get another MRI to be submitted to the Nevada State Athletic Commission,” Amonsot said during a press conference yesterday shortly after his arrival from the US.
However, another doctor, Dr. Debra Nelson advised Amonsot to rest for one year to “perfectly heal” his injury.
It is not only Amonsot who will not see action in a quite while, Katsidis, who suffered a badly damaged face, was also advised by NSAC to rest for a year.
Amonsot, Katsidis, featherweight Oscar “Chololo” Larios, and light heavyweight Ted Muller all shared the same room at the Valley Medical Center after the fight.
Despite his injury Amonsot is not inclined on hanging up his gloves now that he has proven his worth in worldwide television.
Cleared
“After everything is cleared, Golden Boy Promotion promised to give Amonsot another fight, a world championship that is, because they are very much satisfied by his performance and they believe Amonsot can be a champion maybe at the age of 26 or 28,” said Cebuano international promoter Sammy Gello-ani.
Gello-ani showed to the media the complete medical record and the films of the CT Scan and MRI of Amonsot that showed his injury is healing fast.
After taking lunch, Amonsot and his party sailed for Tagbilaran where Mayor Lim has prepared a band and a group of supporters to meet him at the port area.
From the Tagbilaran city port, Amonsot was expected to proceed directly to the Tagbilaran City cathedral and to radio station DyRD. He was also scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to Mayor Lim at the City Hall.
“I am definitely coming back to fight. I want to fight Katsidis again and I want revenge. In all my opponents, he was the strongest but I had the chance to beat him only I failed to keep my cool,” said Amonsot.
Aside from working at city hall, Amonsot is also planning to put up a small business to keep him busy while trying to recuperate from his injury.
