Trike driver kills ex-con in Lapu

AN ex-convict was killed after a tricycle driver whom he bore grudges with shot him in Barangay Babag, Lapu-Lapu City at 8:45 p.m. Saturday.

Tricycle driver Nasser Madsa Guia, 37, of Barangay Calawisan, was also wounded after ex-convict Benjamin Cabalhug shot him first.

Initial investigation by PO3 Federick Eslit, of Lapu-Lapu City Police Homicide Section, showed that Guia was drinking with friends Rosendo Oyao and Vicente Agosto Jr. when Cabalhug joined them.

Discuss

While drinking, they came to discuss an old grudge between Guia and Cabalhug.

Wanting to put a stop to the argument, Cabalhug jokingly aimed his gun at Guia, who then stood up to leave.

But while Guia was leaving, Cabalhug shot him in the stomach. Although wounded, Guia managed to fight back and punched Cabalhug.

Grapple for gun

The two fell to the ground and grappled for possession of the gun.

Guia succeeded in snatching the gun from Cabalhug and then shot the ex-convict in the face and chest.

Witnesses took the two to the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital. But it was too late to save Cabalhug.

Guia was transferred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medican Center, where police kept him under custody. (From Sun.Star Superbalita)
