Ex-convict killed by 2 masked men

AN ex-convict was gunned down by two masked men Sunday night in Hills View, Barangay Tisa in Cebu City.

Frederick Sagon Embalsado, 28, who lived in the area died of multiple gunshot wounds from a caliber .45 pistol used by one of the shooters.

He was jailed for a robbery case at the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center.

Embalsado and a man only identified as “Don-don” were sitting on a wooden bench beside the road when the attack occurred past 8 p.m., Sunday.

The two men arrived, and one of them shot Embalsado repeatedly. He died on the spot.

Investigators recovered four empty shells and two slugs from a caliber .45 at the crime scene.

The gunman spared Embalsado’s companion. After the shooting, the two fled on foot.

The perpetrators were described to be wearing jackets and covered their faces with pieces of clothes when they carried out the crime.

Police believe that the perpetrators knew the place well as they easily found a way to flee from the area.

There were also reports that the perpetrators were known in the area because they covered their faces to avoid getting identified.

Embalsado’s mother, Maria Presa, told the investigators that her son was once jailed for a robbery case at the city jail.

Police are still determining if the incident was the handiwork of vigilantes.

Homicide Section Chief Mario Monilar said his office is coordinating with the city jail to get the criminal records of Embalsado. (JST)
