Robber, unable to get anything from victims, abducts teener

BECAUSE she was unable to give anything of value to a motorcycle-riding robber, a 15-year-old girl was kidnapped for several hours but was later released in Carmen town yesterday dawn.

Anna Rose Espina spent the night with two friends at a carnival and were on their way home at 12:30 a.m. when a man blocked their way.

The man pointed a gun at them and demanded they hand over their cellular phones.

Since all three of them did not have cellular phones, they tried to reason with him.

Demand

The man, however, reportedly kept demanding that they give him something.

“Nanghilak na lang mi pero wa mi mahatag kay wa man mi dala (We all cried but we couldn’t give him anything),” Espina said.
The man then pointed to Espina and told her to ride on the bike.

“Ako man iyang napilian mao tong ingon siya nga ‘gakos diha sa akong hawak unya duko ibutang na imong ulo sa akong abaga’ (He told me to ‘hold on to my waist and press your head on my shoulder’),” she narrated.

Since she was told to look down, she did not know where she was taken.

She only remembered that they reached an area where the road was no longer paved but was rocky.

The whole time, she kept pleading with him not to harm her until he threatened to kill her if she did not keep silent.

Later, she asked the man to take her home because she did not have anything with her.

The man took her back to the Carmen National High School.

“Mao tong iya kong gibilin sa (That’s when he just left me at the) academy unya among balay dapit raman sa simbahan, naglakaw nalang ko. Akong mama og papa ug mga uyoan nagpaabot na nako (Since our house is just near the church, I just walked on. My parents and uncle were already waiting for me),” she added.

Motive

PO3 Rollen Piscalia said they believe the motive was just to rob the three.

“Ni-attempt man ni og dagan maong nahadlok siguro tong tawo nga (to run so the man must have anticipated that) mu-report (she will report) sa pulis, gipasakay siya (to the police, so she was told to ride),” Piscalia said.

They are looking into the possibility that the man is from Danao City.

He added that it was fortunate Espina was not harmed. (MEA)
