USC lauded for support

CEBU Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) commended the University of San Carlos for doing its part in the effort to solidify every school’s support to its teams.

Last Sunday, hordes of USC students trooped to the USC gym to show support to their USC Warriors, who were scheduled to play on that day.

Cesafi commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy said that the students are enrolled in Physical Education classes, who are encouraged to watch the games.

“Let this be an example to other schools. Maybe we should encourage more of our students to come out and watch the games to support their respective schools,” said Tiukinhoy.

Tiukinhoy added that this will pave the way for a stronger support system in every school, just like the University Athletics Association of the Philippines and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which Cesafi has been trying to emulate.

“Later on, we do not have to remind the students to show their support. They go to the games on their own to show support to their schools, said Tiukinhoy.

Inspired by this show of support, Tiukinhoy said that he will be proposing to the board to award the school, which will be able to show the strongest support system for their teams.

“It should be consistent until the end. It will be determined by the end of the Cesafi season,” Tiukinhoy added.

Meanwhile, Tiukinhoy also commended the team coaches for adhering to their calls to don polo shirts or polo barongs with school seals in them during the games.

Though looking more like teachers than coaches, Tiukinhoy said it gives the coaches a more serious tone, compared to the usual casual attire. (MCB)
