Pacquiao finally leaves for US training

AFTER several postponements due to various reason, Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao has finally left for the US to begin his training for his Oct. 6 rematch against Marco Antonio Barrera.

Pacquiao was originally scheduled to leave for the US last July 4 but that has been postponed at least four times.

According to various reports posted at the Philboxing.com site, the postponement were due to Pacquiao’s numerous commitment.

Such is the confusion for Pacquiao’s “go-no-go” departure that on the day he was scheduled to leave for America two national dailies had contrasting stories. One was that of Pacquiao finally leaving for the US and that of Pacquiao’s failure to depart for the US.

Perhaps to finally make sure that Pacquiao has indeed left for America, Philboxing.com ran a story, “Pacquiao is on the plane to LA,” leaving no room for doubt.

His departure was due to the egging of his close confidant and Cebuano boxing impresario Rex “Wakee” Salud, who left for Manila the other day to convince Pacquiao to start his training with Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao reportedly wanted to start his training in Cebu.

“But we advised him that he needs to depart so he concentrate on his training,” Salud told Sun.Star Superbalita.

Roach has already expressed apprehension on Manny’s failure to show up at his gym saying that he will only begin to worry if Pacquiao fails to arrive by Aug. 4. (ESL)
