Veco dominates goodwill chess vs. Aboitizland
THE Visayan Electric Company (Veco) chess team won the one-day goodwill matches with the Aboitizland chess team 14-6 last Wednesday at the Aboitiz’ canteen in Banilad.
The chess tournament, which had two games of 10 boards, saw the Veco woodpushers winning the first game with a score of 6-4 and extending their dominance in the second, 8-2.
The Veco team is composed of Nic Cuizon, Jerms Caballo, Jun Decorina, Danny Alfafara, Noel Modesto, Hanzel Rejadillo, Nelson Perez, Joselito Nacrongayo, Wendell Peligro and Lemuel Gerson.
The Aboitizland team, on the other hand, is manned by Maggi Dionson, Mandy Baria, Clarence Deada, Junie Omega, Jade Garzon, Roger Pesole, Allain Montenegro, Earl Retuya, Richard Amit and Nenchelle Cortes.
According to Marvin Ruelan, tournament arbiter, the goodwill games was a venue for the chess players to gauge themselves on how they can compete with the other chess teams in the city.
Ruelan added that other goodwill matches with other companies are already being planned. (JGC)
