Surban to join cross-country race in Singapore
DANAO City’s mountain bike ace Niño Surban will be flying for Singapore today to take part in the Phat Tyre Sunday Mountain Bike Tournament at the Tampines Mountain on Saturday.
Surban, who recently got his spot in the national team back after an impressive finish in the Asian Mountain Bike Championships in China, will be competing in the Men’s Open division of the cross-country event.
The course will be six laps, with each lap covering seven kilometers.
“I will need the exposure for the Sea Games this December,” said Surban.
Last weekend, Surban won a race in Asturias, where he overpowered other local races.
“I hope I win in Singapore so that I can show everyone that I am worthy to be back in the national team,” Surban said.
Surban lost his slot in the RP team when he refused to train in Manila. In China, Surban outclassed the RP team members, including national squad’s top bet Eusebio Quiñones, to once more get the attention of the RP team heads. (MCB)
