World Cup win ushers brighter future

Z “The Dream” Gorres, AJ “Bazooka” Banal and Michael Domingo reached new heights of fame and popularity as they respectively scored overwhelming victories during the Boxing World Cup in Sacramento, California.

Wearing their new Icelink watches worth $5,000 each, Gorres, Banal and Domingo proudly held aloft the World Cup which will be in the Philippines for two years.

“It felt very great to give honor to the country. And to find out that we were given a heroes’ treatment after our win was very pleasing,” said Domingo.

However, brighter future awaits the three ALA Gym fighters and Gorres is going to have a bigger challenge ahead of him.

For the 18-year-old Banal, whom the Golden Boy executives have high regards, will be the newest darling of the Oscar de a Hoya owned promotional outfit.

And Domingo, who was given no chance to beat GBP’s pet Miguel Roman, but came out victorious in a shutout decision , also caught the fancy of GBP.

Plan Z

“We have a good plan for Gorres, probably before the year ends we will let him fight. But this is not yet for the world title,” said his manager Michael Aldeguer. “Since he still has one more fight under his contract with the Golden Boy Promotions, there is something big waiting for him, probably next year.”

As to Banal Aldeguer said, “Golden Boy has always been raring to sign up Banal, but we are still weighing all options. For sure he could always get a fight in the US anytime but by Sept. 30 he will be fighting here in Cebu for a youth title.”

Aldeguer also said Domingo will be getting more fights in the US. (RCM)
