Filipino netters extend win streak

FILIPINO junior netters continued their winning streak in the Hoengseung Korea International Junior Tennis Championship 2007, winning all their third round assignments yesterday at the Sunkang Tennis courts in Korea.

All Filipinos, including Cebuanos Jacob Lagman and Vince Mark Tabotabo, showed no mercy in bashing their hosts.

Tabotabo won over Korea's top 8 player Chung Yun Seong, 8-4 to, enter the next round against a still to be determined foe.

The nine-year-old Tabotabo's second win of the day came in the doubles event, where he and partner Eric Olivarez, trampled on Choi Yeon and Lim Seong Taeg, 6-2.

Olivarez also won his third round battle in the singles event, where he dominated Yeon, 8-2.

Lagman, who is competing in the Boys 12 class, defeated Cho Min Kook, 8-5, before teaming up with doubles partner Jurence Mendoza to clobber Lee Seng and Kim Young Sek, 6-3.

Mendoza will also be advancing to the next round in the singles class of the Boys 12 division. He earned the pass when he defeated Hyron Moo, 8-6.

Extension

The boys exploits were mirrored by the girls over at the other court as Ericka Lagura and Maika Tampoco also succeeded in ousting their Korean foes.

In the singles event of the Girls 12, Lagura defeated Jeong Young 8-5, while Tampoco won over Park Yong Eun, 8-5.

To add insult to injury, Lagura and Tampoco again thrashed their singles victims, Young and Eun. 6-4, when they met them in the doubles match up.
