Sunday, August 19, 2007 Jaguars gun for third win today
THE University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars hope to fortify their hold on top of the standings of the collegiate division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc., when they put their unstained record on the line against the Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT) Wildcats this afternoon at the Cebu Coliseum.
USJ-R, which now has a 2-0 win-loss record, is expected to cruise to its third straight win against the slumping Wildcats, which failed to clinch a victory after three outings.
Expected to carry the offensive load for the Jaguars will be their peppery playmaker Armand Ponce and John Malinao, who carried USJ-R to victory last Sunday against University of Cebu (UC).
CIT coach Alex dela Torre needs to pull out more tricks out of his sleeves in order to score an upset and a much needed win over the Jaguars.
The UC Webmasters, on the other hand, also needs to win in order to keep their bid in the Cesafi alive. They will be taking on the Don Bosco College this afternoon.
Having been a perennial top four team, UC is surprisingly at the bottom of the standings with a winless record (0-3). UC is fresh off a heart-wrenching overtime loss to USC in its last assignment.
In the earlier games, the UC Baby Webmasters hope to extend their win streak when they clashes with the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Baby Panthers in the first game this afternoon at 1 p.m.
The juniors teams of Cebu Institute of Technology and USJ-R will also play in the 2:30 p.m. offering before the collegiate matches. (MCB)
