Alarcio not worried by Capitol plan on PC Hills

ALTHOUGH the Provincial Government has announced its intention of possibly recovering PC Hills, PNP Regional Office (PRO) 7 Chief Supt. Silverio Alarcio Jr. sees no problem if they have to move out.

Alarcio said that in his last meeting with Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia sometime last month, he was told the Capitol was “not in a hurry as far as the police is concerned.”

“The arrangement is we will not be moving out unless a new site is prepared for us. She is very kind enough to give us relocation sites,” Alarcio said.

Capitol earlier said it is checking the terms of the donation to see if they can recover the lot in Nivel Hills.

Asked regarding the status of PC Hills, Alarcio said this was donated by the Provincial Government to the police, then called the Philippine Constabulary-Integrated National Police. He said the Provincial Government can recover the property if there is enough justification.

Not issue

“I don’t know yet the terms and conditions of the donation. But it is not an issue that will bear on the peace and order,” he told reporters yesterday.

PC Hills is not part of the 81 hectares occupied by Camp Lapu-Lapu, which is to be vacated by Central Command (Centcom).

President Arroyo earlier said Centcom will transfer its headquarters to Mactan as the property will be reverted to the Capitol.

PC Hills holds quarters for officials and personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) assigned in offices in Cebu, including the police regional director.

The five-hectare compound has 2.5 hectares for officials and another 2.5 hectares for non-commissioned officers.

Capitol also asked some police offices occupying Camp Sotero Cabahug to vacate as it was going to start using the property.

Alarcio said that aside from a lot in Camp Sotero Cabahug, Capitol still owns part of Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr.

Plans

He said the side facing R. Landon St. which holds the St. Ignatius Chapel and the Firearms Explosives, Security Agency and Guards Supervision Section 7 is still owned by the Provincial Government.

Alarcio assured that they do not mind moving to another location.

He reiterated his plans to move PRO 7 headquarters to another location and let the Cebu City Police Office occupy the office on Osmeña Blvd.

The Capitol also plans to put up a new headquarters for the Cebu Provincial Police Office across from its current location in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City. (MEA)
