Tuesday, August 21, 2007 PKF, DepEd to hold Karatedo seminar at CCSC
THE Philippine Karatedo Federation is collaborating with the Department of Education for the Karatedo Orientation Seminar this weekend at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Tapped by DepEd VII director Dr. Carolino Mordeno to take charge of the two-day seminar that starts this Saturday is the Do-Kyohan Karate Association.
The seminar aims to develop school-based contests to strengthen competitiveness and to inspire youth through karatedo and to help in the local governing body discover potential talents that may contribute to the search for the elusive Olympic gold.
Teachers
Since it aims school-based teams to be created, physical education teachers and anyone interested are invited to join the seminar, which is being offered for free.
“The teachers can use the skills to teach in the PE classes especially in the area of the individual and dual sports,” said Mordeno in his memorandum.
Expected to be here for the event are teachers from Cebu and neighboring provinces of Bohol, Dumaguete and Siquijor.
Manuel Aloba, PKF regional head said that they commended not only the project since they are also gunning to bring the sport to the grass roots level. (MCB)
