Wednesday, August 22, 2007 Lecture on religious movements from 1900-90 organized by USC
CEBU’S 14 major religious movements from 1900-1990, including their origin, growth and belief systems will be discussed in the lecture forum “Kalihokan sa Tinuhoan: Religious Movements in Cebu, 1900-1990.”
The forum will be on Aug. 25, 3:30 p.m., at the Cebu Metropolitan Cathedral Museum.
Laila R. Labajo, a faculty member of the University of San Carlos (USC) History Department, will also establish the patterns of reformative movements and religious dissent during these years.
She specializes in church history and Philippine historiography and research.
Research
Labajo is also the research assistant of the Cebuano Studies Center at USC and a faculty member of the Seminario Mayor de San Carlos where she teaches Ancient Church History.
She is also a member of the Archdiocesan Core Group of the Cebu-Citizens Involvement and Maturation for Peoples Empowerment and Liberation.
The lecture forum is the third of the monthly lecture series organized by Hamiling Binilin (Hambin), a newly organized cultural heritage group composed of the pioneering batch of USC Certificate on Cultural Heritage Studies Program, the USC History Department and the Cebuano Studies Center.
