Arthro Kontra breaks a leg

ARTHRO Kontra Arthritis prevented an offensive meltdown to eke out a vengeful 80-72 win over Holcim Pryce Pharma-Misamis Oriental in the knockout finals hoisting them as champion in the 2007 Cantilan Invitational Basketball Tournament in Cantilan, Surigao del Sur.

The Jonathan Guardo-owned Arthro started hot with a sizzling 28-18 lead after the first quarter, but the 2007 MVBA First Conference champions did not allow the Kontra Arthritis squad to go far before striking within 56-58 going into the final quarter.

However, despite the pressure imposed by MisOr, Arthro this time did not budge and with Alex Cainglet, Ronaldo Bucao and Leodi Garcia, the Cebu-based squad stayed afloat all throughout the game.

Cainglet topped all scorers with 20 points while Bucao and Garcia added 13 markers each to give Arthro its fifth championship in 2007.

Except for Mark Abadia who scored 10 points, nobody from the MisOr squad scored in double digits. (RCM)
