Del Monte opens title defense in WGAP Luzvimin today

THE Del Monte Golf and Country Club is set to defend its Diamond Division title when the Women’s Golf Association of the Philippines Luzvimin Cup kicks off today at the Cebu Country Club today.

Last year. Del Monte, composed of Lovelyn Guioguio, Marian Woo, Inday Miñoza, Eva Miñoza, Nenita Guioguio and Maribel San Miguel, tallied 576 points to rule the Pearl Division.

Apart from the diamond contest, the competition is divided into two other classes, Ruby and Pearl. The division is based on the players’ handicaps.

Titles

Also returning to defend their titles are Team Pamplona of Ruby division and Riviera of Pearl class.

Last year, Pamplona banked on Farah de Asis, Mita Escano, Gigi Frokjear, Ana Montenegro, Amanda Vicente and Catherine Ponce de Leon 452 to take the crown.

On the other hand, Riviera, made up of Marthy Fernandez, Corazon Fyfe, Josie Amon, Beng Ibo, Mina Gillot and Cynthia Allanique, tallied a division best 456 last year to take the first place in the Pearl division.

The other teams in the three-day contest are, Alabang, AltaVista, Bacolod, Baguio Country Club, Forest Hills, John Hay, Manila Golf, NOG, Philippine Navy, Santa Elena, Southwoods, Tagaytay Highlands, Victorias, Villamor and Wack Wack.

Cebu will be represented by the host team CCC, Club Filipino de Cebu and Alta Vista Golf and Country Club. (MCB)
