Wednesday, August 22, 2007 Otik faces veteran in Bantayan fight 10-rd. main event
SUPER featherweight campaigner Fernando “Rikitik” Otik will headline another boxing promotion in Bantayan dubbed the “Karambola sa Isla: Garbo Sang Bantayan” on Aug. 25 at the recently completed Bantayan Multi-purpose Center in Bantayan Island.
Otik, who is a native of Madridejos, will slug it out against veteran Edward Escriber in a 10-round slugfest.
Following his loss to Hee Jae Jo of South Korea for the WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight title, Otik vented his ire on Danny Boy Bontilao last June 26 still at the same venue, when he scored a unanimous decision win after eight rounds.
Escriber, a native fighter from Cagayan de Oro City, has fought 43 times and is a veteran journeyman and has been the toast of Mindanao boxing for years in his prime.
Also seeing action in this card promoted by Sammy Gello-ani is Reman Salim of Bacolod City against Boholano Ricky Sismundo also for 10 rounds bout.
Undercard
In the undercard, veteran Fabio Marfa will fight Roland Malinao for eight rounds; Romeo Jakosalem of Davao del Sur will face Sonny Alfara for six rounds; Rolito Nengasca of Barili-Cebu will debut against Albert Villacampa; and Rey Villar will fight Jerome Bontog for four rounds.
Opening the card is a six exciting amateur bouts between a selection from Cebu against local Bantayan fighters. (RCM)
