Thursday, August 23, 2007 Monday, Aug. 27, no-work holiday
MALACAÑANG declared Aug. 27, Monday, a special non-working day to allow the nation to enjoy its second consecutive long weekend.
The country commemorates National Heroes’ Day every last Sunday of August.
But Republic Act 9492, which President Arroyo signed last month, allows the observance of a holiday that falls on Sundays on a Monday instead.
According to the Department of Labor and Employment’s Memorandum Circular 1, all workers who will render services on a special non-working day will be entitled to an additional 30 percent of their daily pay.
