Monday a regular no-work holiday
MONDAY, Aug. 27, is a regular holiday, the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) 7 said yesterday.
Bob Cabardo of PIA 7 said that under Republic Act 9492, which President Arroyo signed into law last month, every last Monday of August is National Heroes’ Day, a regular holiday.
However, the website of the Office of the Press Secretary (www.ops.gov.ph) announced that Aug. 27 is a special non-working holiday.
For regular holidays, Department of Labor and Employment 7 Assistant Director Exequiel Sarcauga said workers who show up to work will be entitled to 100 percent pay on top of their daily salary.
On special holidays, the premium for working is only 30 percent.
