Sunday, August 26, 2007 USC Baby Warriors echo seniors’ win
THE University of San Carlos Baby Warriors took solo leadership in the juniors division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. following their 83-61 conquest over Don Bosco College Baby Greywolves, Friday night at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Baby Warriors are mirroring its seniors division counterparts to top the juniors class with a 4-1 win-loss ledger. The USC collegiate team is also hovering on top of the tertiary divisions.
Nielton John Otida and Ian Alocillo spearheaded the Baby Warriors’ cause as they scattered 16 points apiece. DBC, on the other hand, spiraled further down the cellar without a single win after three starts.
Highlights
In the other game, the University of the Visayas Baby Green Lancers improved its slate to 2-2 after sneaking past the University of San Jose Recoletos, 89-83.
Today, the USC Warriors are looking at maintaining its winning streak in the league as they face the besieged DBC Grey-wolves, which is yet to win a game.
The Warriors are riding on the crest of USC’s hottest streak in the Cesafi ever, having won all of its five games.
Other than the USC regulars Enrico Llanto and Niño Ramirez, starting to make his mark in the league is Sam Hermosa. Hermosa had a breakout game against University of San Jose-Recoletos last week, when he initiated a final quarter run that served as a springboard for USC’s win over the Jaguars.
Hermosa, is also a former juniors player of the University of Southern Philippines Foundation who recently came off a stint in the UAAP.
In the other game in the seniors division, the USJ-R Jaguars will be facing the USPF Panthers.
In the juniors division, the USP Baby Panthers, who are fresh off their overtime win over the defending champions University of Cebu Baby Webmasters will try their luck once more as they take on the USJ-R Baby Jaguars.
