Franchising industry to benefit tourism

THE growth of the franchising business in Cebu will spur domestic tourism, an official of the Department of Tourism (DOT) said.

Meetings, exhibits, conferences, incentives and conventions will bring in more people from other parts of the country to Cebu, said Tourism Undersecretary Phineas Alburo during the opening of the 8th Cebu Franchise Expo last Friday.

He said the franchise expo “is one of the most important proofs that tourism is doing good” in the province.

He said franchising is the hope of tourism since it will make people travel.

Rudolf Anton Kotik, RK Franchise Consultancy (RKFC) president, said the franchising industry is really growing.

Kotik, who is a senior franchise consultant with 28 years of franchise management experience, said 10 years ago, there were only 60 franchises but now there are 800.

With this growth, he said he expects about a thousand visitors from different provinces in the country to see the expo and attend related seminars.

RKFC is handling more than 200 franchises, including Neo-Neo Grill House, Mocha Blends, Park ‘n Go, Thirsty, Gerry’s Grill and Touch and Heal.

The Franchise Expo is a partnership of RKFC and the Filipino International Franchise Association. (TEP)
